INTERNATIONAL PEACE & DEMOCRACY ADDRESS
SVC INTERNATIONAL PEACE & DEMOCRACY DAY
SEPTEMBER 6, 2023
Sunday was the 240th Anniversary of the Treaty of Paris. This Treaty formally recognized America's Independence from Britain on September 3, 1783. It was almost nine years to the day the First Continental Congress convened on September 5, 1774.
The Continental Congress was formed so that the Colonies could create a united front against the incursions of the British. Many believe that the Colonists behaved rashly in declaring Independence less than two years later. The fact of the matter is it was the accumulation of provocations by King George III and the Parliament beginning with the Proclamation Line 1763 13 years before that started the downward spiral towards revolution.
The important aspect to remember here is that in rare circumstances one side is completely at fault in a conflict and when the stances the oppressor takes become immutable and no compromise can be reached, extraordinary actions must be taken by the oppressed parties or lose everything they hold dear. That was the case for the colonists in their time as it is in our time with the American Opprobrium.
Two years ago in preparation for this Annual Address I walked down to a convenience store to get a soda and collecting my thoughts. The clerk gave me change with three bills, all from the Federal Landbank in Richmond, Virginia, and one of the quarters was the commemorative coin for the Battle of Gettysburg. I could hear our Creator telling me “Phil, talk about your Family.”
That part of the speech that day was completely extemporaneous and given the feedback I received, one of my best moments at the rostrum.
My heritage I received from my two Grandmothers is remarkable. My Paternal Grandmother is a Randolph. William and Mary Randolph of Turkey Island were know as the Adam and Eve of the famous Virginians. Their Great Grandsons were Peyton Randolph, the First President of the Continental Congress; and Thomas Jefferson and John Marshall, who need no introduction.
Then Richard Henry Lee, my Fourth Generation Grandfather, with our Birthday Girl's Cousins John Hancock and Samuel Adams founded the Correspondence Committee which led to the Creation of the Continental Congress. Without the Continental Congress, there never would have been an United States of America.
Finally, Edmund Randolph, the first Attorney General and Second Secretary of State, succeeding his Second Cousin the previously mentioned Thomas Jefferson. Thomas', John's and Richard's Mothers were First Cousins with their Fathers being three of William's and Mary's seven boys.
My Maternal Grandmother's Family are the Suttons, direct descendants of King William I, the Conqueror. Beginning with William, the English-speaking Peoples grand march to Democracy began with his victory during the Battle of Hastings on October 14, 1066, and culminated with his 19th Generation Grandson, George Washington's, Victory at Yorktown on October 19, 1781, almost exactly 715 years later to the day.
When Princess Diana's Funeral was conducted 26 years ago yesterday, an American Commentator stated a George Washington Relative is buried at Al Thorp, the Spencer Family Ancestral Home.
In the Sutton Family Genealogy compiled by my Great-Great Grandfather, John Davison Sutton, he spoke of Cousin George's Sixth Generation Grandmother was where he inherited her "stellar character." The Duchess of Marlborough, Mary Sutton Spencer, is the one buried at Al Thorp.
We have never been able to confirm why J.D. spoke so highly of Mary, but her Husband Edward, the Duke of Marlborough, was on Queen Elizabeth I's Privy Council and it is likely Mary befriended her Cousin who was the first English Queen who served any length of time and supported her at a time history when the world would not respect a female Monarch. The Queen's Father was Henry VIII who had six wives in order to secure a male heir.
Angelica and I named our Son Jack, John Thomas George after the first three U.S. Presidents, who he is most certainly related. John Adams is Angelica's Fifth Generation Grandfather. We named his Twin Sister, Marti, after their wives, but Thomas and George both married widows named Martha, so we couldn't very well name her Martha Abigail Martha. We named her after her Mother, who's middle name is Elizabeth, her Maternal Grandmother and the two Queens, Elizabeth I & II she is related to on my side of the Family.
Queen Elizabeth II delighted in her little namesake and referred to me as her American Cousin. It also completed the set because I was named after Prince Philip.
Their Son, King Charles III, asked SVC to conduct one of our Public Policy Forum series in the four Provincial Capitals of the United Kingdom – Cardiff, Wales; Belfast Northern, Ireland; Edinburgh, Scotland; and London, England - in the run-up to his Coronation in May.
While in Cardiff, I was led to a Memorial for Saint Adela, William's youngest Daughter and his favorite Child of 10 he had with Queen Maud. In an effort to complete the genealogy J.D. had started and prove we are direct Descendants of the Conqueror, I discovered a problem.
Historians had Adela down as a Nun, not a Saint and thus couldn't possibly be my 25th Generation Grandmother. The fact of the matter is that Adela married when she was 15 and had 10 Children of her own with her Husband Stephen II, Count of Belois.
I was very taken by Adela's beauty and her obvious love for the Creator, for books and people, something she inherited from the Conqueror and I inherited from both of them.
Adela was also a very adept Politician like her Father. After her younger Brother King Henry I, from who George Washington is a direct Descendant, died she made sure his successor would be one of her three older Sons.
Her eldest Son, William was incapacitated. Second Son Theobald II, the Great, my 24th Generation Grandfather, actually turned down his Grandfather's crown in hopes of becoming the French King instead. Fate intervened when Pope Urban II declared the Crusades.
Both the Count of Belois and the Count of Champagne answered the the Pope's call and lost their lives fighting in the Crusades and Adela lost her Husband and Son, but not before Theobald's Descendants eventually became the Kings of Jerusalem, Crete, Edinburgh and the Franks. The latter is ironic, because some of the land held by the Franks is now the The Hague in the Netherlands.
The English Crown was bestowed upon Adela's Third Son who they named after his Father, Count Stephen III of Belois and King Stephen I of England. He was Coronated three days short of the 69th anniversary of his Grandfather's Coronation on Christmas Day 1066.
What was fun for me is also I learned that there was another French beauty in my ancestral line that had an inordinate influence on English History between Adela and Mary. Queen Isabella, the Daughter of King Philip IV of France, married King Edward II of England.
If you ever watched the movie “Braveheart”, Isabella is the one who asked William Wallace whether or not he would negotiate with a Woman.
Isabella was the Daughter-in-Law of Edward I or “Longshanks”. They called him that because he was tall and wore his hair long. The elder Edward wanted to subjugate the entire island under his rule. The Scots didn't care for that idea, but the Welsh were open to it.
Originally, Edward I offered the Welsh that they could have their own King, but would be subject to his authority. Later, he came back and stated that the younger Edward would be their King and given the title of Prince of Wales. Edward and Isabella were the very first Prince and Princess of Wales, titles that William and Kate now hold.
Edward II became King in 1307 and was later pronounced mentally ill just as King George III would be five centuries later. His Wife and Son, Edward III, deposed him in 1327. Isabella was de facto Regent for three years.
Edward III, with the help of his Mother, became the real life King Arthur and created Order of Garter, the Senior Order of Chivalry. The night before we went to Cardiff, King Charles made me one his Knights. His Mother knighted me into Order of the Thistle previously. She said I was one of her true Knights not just an honorary one because of my “heroic work” in World Democratization and developing International Law.
The reason why this is not only interesting if you appreciate history but necessary to understand why the Creator has intervened in my life the way he has and when.
Jesus was the 26th Generation Grandson of King David just as I am the 26th Generation Grandson down from the Conqueror. This is key because the time difference between us and probably the two most famous Kings in history is almost identical and thus first and second comings of Jesus will be.
During Christmas Vacation in 2011, I was rewriting the REVIVAL OF THE AMERICAN DREAM, for the 33rd Edition, when I added the part that I call “The Gethsemane Moment”. In it I explain the reasons for and wonder of the Creator's Covenant with Abraham and why Jesus went through his passion during Holy Week culminating in his prayer to be spared the cross at Gethsemane.
One of the most powerful lessons Jesus taught was accepting the Creator's path for your Life no matter the personal suffering involved. I have been told it is heresy to suggest that Jesus may have gotten up at Gethsemane and ran away rather than be arrested. It is heresy to think otherwise.
Napoleon Hill spent a lifetime studying successful people and said only about 2% of the people reach their Divine Destiny. The other 98% face adversity and during their Gethsemane Moment” do run away, never facing their cross.
The reason so much is made of the fact that Jesus was God incarnate is to illustrate he was just as human as the rest of us and had the same emotions, fears and pains. But the key is Jesus was the example of how to overcome our doubts and apprehensions to do what we were sent here to do.
William Shakespeare, who was s contemporary of Queen Elizabeth I and the Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, once commented, “"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances. And one man in his time plays many parts."
A playwright would put it that way, but the truth is you wouldn't be here if the Creator didn't mean for you to be. Yes, there those of us who have a special calling to do something slightly more important in the Creator's Grand Design, but the Creator and Jesus are counting on you to do your part whatever it may be.
Once Jesus knew I understood this lesson, the following Holy Week in 2012 came the Trowbridge beating and the Black Horseman seal discussed in Revelations 6: 5 & 6 was opened. It would not be for another 14 months until I was given my Mission during my Longfellow Dream.
Just like when Moses was given his Mission through a burning bush which was not being consumed, I woke in our bed in Charlottesville, Virginia, lying on a blood soaked pillow after I had fallen and hit my head in Bozeman 2,300 miles away. Both Moses and I were given an indelible sign we had indeed been in the presence of the Almighty and had been given our marching orders.
Jesus' Gethsemane Moment fell on Thursday, April 6, AD 30. Mine was on Thursday, April 5, AD 2012. I was not physically crucified the next day, but my earthly life and reputation have been for the past 596 weeks. Jesus' Mission was completed on Sunday, April 9 AD 30; Moses' was completed approximately 1,566 years before and mine is progressing to conclusion right now.
In addition, the Descendants of Kings were/are living impoverished Lives. There was nothing in Jesus' life that would have alerted anyone to his status as King David's Descendant. Jesus said in Matthew 8:20, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” Yet, Jesus is the most important person to ever have lived. He doesn't need to wear a crown to indicate his significance or power.
Saturday, Diane Freola, SVC's International Counseling Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer, received a message from my Sister Karen. While some of what she wrote is misinformed, there are two very salient points in what she addressed.
First, she expressed her alarm that I am living in a “fantasy world.” Fantasy denotes fun, creativity and a release from the real world. My life is more like it is in the Twilight Zone where nothing is normal or makes sense. I wish all I had to do was wake up, end the fantasy and discover that the American Opprobrium is a nasty nightmare I've been having. But to actually think that I could do that would be a fantasy existence in itself and insane.
Those bruises on my eyes and leg are no fantasy. The over 100 Women who have been raped with impunity is no fantasy. The 10,000 individuals who have had their lives systematically ruined is no fantasy. Shannon Schweyen's Sex Discrimination case against the University of Montana is no fantasy. We all wish what happened hadn't, but they did and we have to deal with it.
A technique often used in civil cases to determine whom is at fault is to ask this simple question: “Who would have benefited the most if the incident in question hadn't happened?”
Can there be any question about who would have benefitted most if the American Opprobrium had not happened? SVC Business & International Entrepreneurship Executive Director Kristine M. West, DBA, and SVC International Economic & Foreign Policy & Trade Executive Director Erica S. Masters, DBA, have written several episodes about how SVC would have fared if the American Opprobrium had not happened in their “Economics of Organized Terrorism” Articles.
One of the aspects of my famous ancestors that I know I share is a profound sense of right and wrong. America's Founders knew they were dealing with a despotic monarch who only cared about himself, his power and his ego. He was wrong in almost every respect, he knew it, but couldn't bring himself to admit it. Sound familiar?
Coach Schweyen filed her lawsuit and I recorded my International Complaint with the same overarching idea, “They are not getting away with this – period!!!!!!!” These people know they are wrong. There are no facts in existence they could prove them right, yet they are still holding onto the delusion they can prevail.
John Adams once commented, “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” Amen!
Back to my Sister's comments. My estrangement from our family was not all my fault as she suggests and people change over time, anyway. With Marti and Jack leaving for college, I remember the day I was doing so.
It was the same day the Camp David Peace Accords were signed on September 17, 1978. I remember the curious set of emotions I was feeling. On one hand, I was concerned about how I would do on my own; on the other, how great it would be to be on my own.
As I finished packing my car, I told everyone that I loved them and prepared to drive to Missoula. It was the first time in 19 years anyone ever said that we loved each other and it was me.
Our stepfather acted as though he had never had been told that himself. He was in his 50th year, had been married twice and had three biological children.
My childhood friends often comment how dramatically I have changed over past 55 years or so. It is true. I was reserved and quiet as a child growing up, pining to get away from a very cold and abusive home.
My younger siblings do not know what I went through with our biological parents. I was born with birth defects that required three major surgeries before I was 18 months old. I was an embarrassment to my Father who was in his Medical Residency.
My parents treated me as an embarrassment from that point forward and abused me physically and mentally. That set the pattern of abuse in my Life that I have witnessed to this day and one of the reasons I want to put the American Opprobrium to rest so I can break the cycle of abuse.
One of those childhood friends, Dr. Brian Harrington, is now an Anesthesiologist and he told me that to this day doctors really don't know how much anesthesia to use on such a small body before surgery and it turned into me into a “blue baby,” stunting my growth. It probably cost me about five or six inches in height.
The name change episode was simply to improve my First Wife's and my chances of getting jobs. We graduated from college in 1982, the worst year in American history to graduate in terms of the number of jobs available versus the number of Graduates. If I hadn't joined the Navy I don't know what we would have done.
But that solution didn't last long. The training accident on the USS Coral Sea abruptly ended my Naval career the following year. We decided to go back to school. I had an internship during the summer of 1984 at the Great Falls Job Service.
There, I taught the staff to use PC's and wrote Training Manuals as well as took over for vacationing staff. I drew up a survey regarding the name change from Whitehair to Sutton. The only demographics used were gender and age group plus there was the opportunity to make open-ended comments.
Of the 47 staffers, only the five men over the age 50 opposed the name change. All the Women and Men 49 and under thought it would be a good idea for our job search after graduation.
When I informed my Father via letter, he was not happy, but wasn't all that upset. Then his Mother came down with Alzheimers and all hell broke loose. He informed me that if I went forward with the name change that our relationship could never be the same. He disowned me.
The worst of it was that I lost my wife and daughter almost exactly one year later. Here I had alienated by nuclear Family and now completely lost my own Family.
Then when I returned to Bozeman from Denver in 1989 five weeks before Montana's Centennial as a State, I discovered that my Stepfather had made some ruinous business decisions and was well on his way to be disbarred as an attorney. I was the only Family member who tried to help.
Then I returned to the Navy after Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. I don't think I have to reiterate what happened then.
When I returned to the USA just as Mikhail Gorbachev dissolved the Soviet Union and the Cold War ended, we tried to become construction workers and build low cost housing in Belgrade. I lost my shirt.
My Stepfather declared bankruptcy and I lost over $100,000 in the process. When I went back to work for the Grounds Crew at Montana State University, I was forced to place a lien on the buildings in order to recover whatever I could. My Stepfather and our other partner sued me and I lost the lawsuit.
After I settled for a lousy $1,000, my Stepfather left a message on my answering machine, saying “You are just like your Brother Stuart. You aren't worth the powder to blow you to hell.” That was pretty much the last contact with my nuclear Family and I moved back over to Missoula almost exactly 29 years ago today. A very different scenario from what Karen could even begin to understand.
When SVC was last here in Boston on Memorial Day, the most popular topic was the idea of a new American Revolution. We were not speaking about a new military conflict, but a very real Political Revolution along the lines Thomas Jefferson talked about - every 25 years or so.
In my new book, TRAILBLAZER TO REVIVAL OF THE AMERICAN DREAM, I outline what Jefferson meant and its vindication by my Concept of the General Semantics of History:
Example # 7: Periodic Political Revolutions
Thomas Jefferson once commented that a little rebellion to refresh democracy is a good thing. Because of this, Jefferson’s adversaries endeavored to have him viewed as a dangerous demigod. (His latter day cousin knows the feeling all too well).
Jefferson himself led the first American “political revolution” in 1800 and 1801. He left the Washington Administration as the first Secretary of State claiming that the Washington Administration had betrayed the principles of the American Revolution and created
the Democratic-Republican Party. In 1801, Jefferson and the Democratic-Republicans replaced John Adams and the Federalists in the new national capital of Washington, D.C. It was the first of only three “national sweeps” in U.S. history where the White House and majority party control of both houses of Congress exchanged partisan hands in the same Election.
The fact is throughout American History, America’s political swings between conservative ideologies and more progressive ideologies have averaged between 35 and 40 years.
The Ultimate Progressive Era: 1776-1816
While the definitions of conservative and progressive ideologies will be thoroughly defined in Chapter Five, suffice it to say here that a conservative feels the status quo suits them and they prefer maintaining what is to their benefit. The more changes a person deems appropriate, the more liberal or progressive they are politically.
In Chapter One, the case is made for the ultimate progressive era. There has never been another time in human history where more is accomplished for the cause of liberty and human rights than during America’s Revolution and formation of the U.S. government under the Constitution.
The initial success of the “Great Experiment” is the single most important series of events in secular history and it would be difficult to discover another era in which such profound change occurred.
Era of Good Feeling: 1816-1854
As is always the case, when everything is going well, humans become complacent and a conservative era commences. The United States became a truly bi-coastal nation by the 1850’s and the sky became the limit. Only the Great Error of 1776 hovered over America like a dark cloud.
Slavery In America Meets Its end: 1854-1894
Americans earnestly sought compromise over the slavery issue. Compromise after compromise were enacted, but to no avail. The flashpoint came when Illinois U.S. Senator Stephen Douglas proposed the Kansas-Nebraska Act in 1854.
Douglas introduced the concept of “popular sovereignty” to the slavery debate. Instead of mollifying the angst over slavery giving each state or territory the right to determine whether or not to allow slavery within their borders, the Act set-off a firestorm of dissent in the north and made the civil war inevitable.
The proposal also led to the creation of the Republican Party and Abraham Lincoln’s reentry into politics. Lincoln would oppose Douglas for the U.S. Senate in 1858 and defeat him for the U.S. Presidency in 1860. While Lincoln consented to the survival of slavery where it already existed, he forbade its spread north and west of Texas. That triggered South Carolina’s succession from the Union in December 1860. Ten more States would secede before Lincoln became President on March 4, 1861. During the following month, the Confederates seized federal garrisons at Fort Sumter and the American Civil War commenced.
The most curious aspect of the slavery conundrum in the United States is how it became such an implacable issue. This is where the General Semantics of History kicks-in.
True, Americans inherited the practice from their British forebears and the slaves were needed in the south to cultivate labor-intensive tobacco, but Benjamin Franklin started the first Abolition Society on the North American continent in 1759.
This means there was an anti-slavery consciousness present in the colonies and there were individuals who believed the infamous practice was wrong.
That said, the slave trade had become a lucrative business and it was simply easier to own rather than pay their fellow human beings for their work they saw as inferior, anyway. There were some who espoused the viewpoint that the blacks were benefitted
through slavery with all their basic needs met rather than live a very primitive life in Africa.
No matter the rationalizations in favor of slavery, it existed, had become a way of life for generations of southerners and over 650,000 Americans died to place the final denouement upon slavery in the United States. America eventually recovered from the civil war and its contributions to the world led to the industrial revolution and America’s arrival onto the world stage. This progressive era, however, concluded with the Depression of 1893.
Dawning of the Industrial Age: 1894-1929
As predicted by none other than Karl Marx, the transition from common mercantilism to capitalism would prove wrenching. G. W. F. Hegel’s Dialectic held that public policy issues would devolve into a series of theses over time. Marx took the philosophy
and applied it to his economic development theories.
Marxism appeared vindicated in the late 19th century. In terms of its impact on industry and employment, the depression of the 1890s essentially was the precursor to the Great Depression three and four decades later.
In some places, the depression began before 1890, with in a jolting agricultural crisis that hit Southern cotton-growing regions and the Great Plains in the late 1880s. The economic shock hit Wall Street and urban areas in 1893, as part of a massive worldwide
economic crisis. A quarter of the nation’s railroads went bankrupt; in some cities, unemployment
among manufacturing workers exceeded 20%.
Americans in different economic strata experienced the depression in markedly different ways. In the bitter winter months, some poor families would starve and many others became vagabonds. Many appeared at the back doors of middle-class houses,
pleading for work or food.
Despite the obvious systemic crisis, many Americans blamed those who could not find work, accusing them of laziness or begging. Some among the unemployed blamed themselves and stories of despair and suicide ran almost daily in many newspapers.
Complicating matters was the influx of immigrants who also were seeking jobs and a better future The modern corporate structure in America was formed. About 90% of the population worked for someone else. Except for a fortunate few, the American Dream was relegated to a pipe dream.
This structure created a fantastic opportunity for magnates to exploit inexpensive labor and build business dynasties that were unparalleled before or since. This conservative era enslaved millions of free people economically. Labor unions and government
regulation kept employment from becoming little more than paid slavery.
The United States also emerged as a world military power by winning an overseas empire from Spain in 1898 and acting as the decisive factor in the Allied victory in World War I.
U.S. President Woodrow Wilson failed to win the peace he envisioned at Versailles and it led to the Second World War and the Cold War.
The New Deal Era: 1929-1966
Rampant financial speculation without government oversight led to the economic collapse of late 1929. At first, the Great Depression did not appear to be the economic conflagration it became.
In due course, however, the sterling prosperity witnessed in the 1920’s was viewed for what it was: an economic illusion and the bubble burst causing 25% unemployment and deflation for the only time in U.S history.
With millions suffering and starving, President Franklin Roosevelt experimented with government programs until he discovered a combination that restored confidence in the future for the American people.
Roosevelt’s leadership skills were exemplary, but the United States would only emerge from the Great Depression when America joined the Allied cause during World War II.
What is key to understand about this progressive era is it enamored the American people to their government and Americans no longer feel responsible for their own fate. They expect Uncle Sam to take care of them. This is more dangerous than the
author can express.
Attenuation of the American Dream: 1966-2006
Although the New Deal Era in American politics did create a long since required social consciousness and government activism to mitigate grievances for women, ethnic minorities and seniors, it has been proven inefficacious at best.
The corruption which inevitably develops in every great civilization seized the U.S. government no later than the Vietnam war. President Lyndon Johnson’s noble goal to eliminate poverty in America in the previous progressive era was put asunder by his
misadventures in Indochina.
Then came the intrigues of the Watergate scandal.
As the author outlined in the previous chapter, August 9, 1974, is the darkest day in American history. Unhealthy cynicism replaced a healthy skepticism and the divisiveness in America continues to grow to this day.
Forget America recovering from the Watergate scandal as it has all the other calamities the nation has faced. America is 49 years in and there is no sign of reversal of this damage.
Indeed, current events are causing many Americans to develop the perspective that a date not far over the horizon will supplant August 9, 1974, as America’s darkest day.
The insurrection and possible treasonous attack instigated by a defeated President on January 6, 2021, is an incredibly apt candidate. History has never witnessed an American leader who fought so vehemently to thwart democracy and stay in power
as has Donald J. Trump. Only the General Semantics of History can determine over time if January 6, 2021 is now the darkest day in American history.
When this last conservative era began, the American Dream was intact, but fading fast. Baby-boom Presidents Donald Trump, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were all born in the summer of 1946 and graduated from high school in 1964.
Trump and Bush both came from privileged backgrounds and were not excellent students. In the 1960’s, they didn’t have to be. A high school diploma and, most certainly, a college degree virtually guaranteed them a good job.
By the time this author and the other baby-boom President, Barack Obama, came of age a decade and a half later, a young American needed a college degree with straight-A’s from a name university to even hope to have a job of any kind at all.
The point? No American the author’s age or younger has any idea of what Trump has been talking about making America great again. We have never known America as great. Indeed, America has been an unmitigated disaster that has only gotten
worse over time, not better. Thus, the motivation for writing this book.
Now, there was the First Moon Landing, the end of the Cold War and the onset of the Information Age in this period. But does the reader really want the author to list all the other things that went horribly wrong for America and Americans between 1966 and
2006? The case is made.
The Fall of the United States of America?:
2006-Present
The current progressive era began when the Democrats retook control of both houses of Congress in 2006 and the first black President Barack Obama won election in 2008 and re-election in 2012.
America is vulnerable. That is not what most Americans are led to believe, but it is fact. The question posed at the end of this chapter concerning the rise and fall of the United States of America could not be more salient.
This tome is being written in hope that the United States does not have to follow the historic progression of all other great civilizations. President Jimmy Carter warned in July 1979 that no legislation or government action could restore American confidence.
Only the American people can do that.
The study of the General Semantics of History requires that the practitioner view reality as is and not through rose covered glasses. The United States is in deep trouble. Very deep trouble. This is an excellent opportunity at this point in American history for the readers to check their value systems and their ability to utilize the General Semantics of History to cope with what is transpiring right now in the United States no matter what their viewpoints are on any given philosophy, issue, entity,
leader or person.
Frankly, the author is so concerned about America’s future. The author worked with the International Community for 18 years to find the answers, not just to solve American problems, but all the difficulties humanity faces.
One way or the other, the world will be brought to a peaceful conclusion. I only hope that America will be part of that solution…
The good news is America has an extraordinarily great track record in overcoming its problems and our generation of Leaders must step up and do so again.
Traditionally, Americans have understood the ideals of hard work and thrift; Democracy; and search for enduring Freedom and Peace. Americans have earned it, Americans have lived for it, and Americans have died for it.
Now there is an unprecedented malaise and implacable distrust between Americans which permanently threatens our hope for domestic Peace, Democracy and prosperity at home and recapturing our formerly good standing abroad.
The twenty-first century has not been kind to the United States. It started with the 9-11-2001 al Qaeda attacks. Osama bin Laden and Islamic jihad have sought to sow the seeds for America's destruction and have discovered there are Americans all too ready to help them.
In America, there is violence towards innocent Citizens and legitimate Law Enforcement; corruption in Offices and positions in the Public Trust; aimlessness among Our Youth; anxiety among Our Elders and there is a virtual despair among the many who look beyond material success for the inner meaning of their Lives. The very place where examples of morality should be set, the opposite has been witnessed.
Now, certainly, simple honesty is not too much to demand of Men and Women in Government Service at all levels. We find it in most. American Independents demand it from Everyone. They demand it from Everyone no matter how exalted or protected his or her position might be. The growing menace in the United States to Personal safety, to Life, to limb and property, in Homes, in Churches, on the playgrounds, and places of Business, is the mounting concern, or should be, of every thoughtful Citizen in the United States.
Security from Domestic violence, no less than from Foreign aggression, is the most elementary and fundamental purpose of the US and all subordinate Governments. Governmental entities that cannot fulfill these purposes are ones that cannot long command the loyalty of its Citizens. History shows us - indeed, demonstrates - that nothing - nothing prepares the way for tyranny more than the failure of Public Officials to keep, maintain and secure Our Liberties from criminals, bullies, marauders and terrorists.
When those same criminals are or have been our own President, Attorney General; State Governor, Judges, Prosecutors, Regulators and Law Enforcement; and University Presidents, Administrators and Employees entrusted with the Public good, you have a calamity of mammoth proportions and no effort can be spared to bring them to Justice and implement positive Reform as soon as we are able.
It is all but certain tyranny will reign and Democracy will fail when Public Officials and Employees are themselves the perpetrators. This in turn creates an impossible scenario for Citizens to trust their Governments again and creates a debilitating cynicism that no one can overcome. I am ever so concerned that is exactly what has and is transpiring in America as I speak.
Never before in our history have Americans been called upon to face three grave threats to our very existence, any one of which could destroy us.
We face disintegrating Economic relations with the World; a weakened sense of National Security and ability to defend ourselves; and Public Policy based on the sharing of scarcity.
Our current Leadership tells us they have done the most that Humanly could be done. They say that the United States has had its day in the Sun; that Our Nation has passed its glory days; and that We must accept its permanent decline. They expect you to tell your Children and Grandchildren that the American People no longer have the will to cope with their problems; that they must be dependent on Government for the answers and that the future will be one of repeated sacrifice and few, if any opportunities.
My Fellow Americans, I utterly reject and refute that viewpoint, as I hope you do. The American People, easily the most generous on Earth, who created the highest standard of living, are not going to accept the notion that We can only make a better World for others is by accepting the degradation of our own position. Those who believe that have no Business leading this Nation.
I cannot stand by and watch this great Country destroy itself under mediocre Leadership that bounces between one crisis to the next like bumper cars, eroding what's left of our National will and purpose.
America not only needs the REVIVAL OF THE AMERICAN DREAM, it must have a rebirth of the American tradition of Leadership at every level of Government and in Private Life as well. The United States of America is unique in World History because it has a genius for producing Great Leaders -many Leaders - on many levels and in a diversity of areas.
Back in 2008, which seems like eons ago, President Barack Obama's Campaign Slogan was "Change We can believe in," accompanied with the chant "Yes We Can." Most Americans bought in. What they bought into was an anemic Economy with barely measurable growth. What they bought into was a weakened America abroad. They saw change all right. They witnessed the shrinking of their well-being in just about every conceivable way that matters.
The Obama Administration even wanted to ration your Health Care and the GOP has not developed a viable alternative. Even those Americans who have benefitted from Obamacare/now Bidencare will eventually know disappointment because all Government Programs have two unfortunate drawbacks: one size must fit all and that's not how the real World works; and because what of I call "Government creep", the programs will require greater and greater funds – a bottomless cup of resources - when this once great Country is nearly bankrupt at every level of Government.
Our viewpoint must not be that Government places trust in one Person or one party or ideology, but in those values that transcend Persons, parties and ideology. The trust must be where it belongs - in the People themselves. The responsibility to live up to that trust is where it belongs, in their Elected Leaders. That kind of relationship, between the People and their Elected Leaders, is a special kind of compact.
The Trump Administration did manage an opening flurry in the Economy and made America appear great again, but that growth rate didn't even meet Donald Trump's expectations. Americans are led to believe that it is the covid-19 pandemic that led to a deep recession. Wrong. The US Government's own statistics showed that the Economy was dipping into recession, anyway, and that the pandemic only exacerbated the crisis.
Further, in the process of attempting to make America great again, the Trump Administration had in fact pushed the United States into being considered a rogue Nation by the International Community. No President in living memory has done more to hurt, not aggrandize, America's reputation around the World.
Trump's only competition in that regard is Obama. From George Washington to George W Bush, every American President put America's National Interests ahead of his own Personal or Political interests. Obama and Trump have acted contrarily to this American tradition and irreparably maligned America's reputation and future.
I will never forget former US Senate Richard Lugar's comments which are indicative of this point. When SVC was at the University of Indiana in August 2017, Dick, who was Joe Biden's opposite on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, trading the gavel depending upon which party had majority control, said, “You know this country is in trouble when we are pining for the days of George W. Bush.”
Despite the fact his fellow Hoosier, Mike Pence, was the new Vice President, Dick had already given up on Trump before he had been President for seven months. This says it all.
Let us make a commitment to MAKING REVIVAL OF THE AMERICAN DREAM inevitable; to Teach Our Children the values and the virtues of the Four Universal Thematic Principles of the American Dream handed down to Us by Our Foreparents; to have the courage to defend those values and the willingness to sacrifice for them when necessary.
Let us pledge to restore, in our time, the American Spirit of Voluntary Service, of cooperation, of Private and Community initiative; a spirit that flows like a deep and mighty river through the History of Our Nation.
We must work to Reform the Federal Government and subordinate Governments in order that they can do the People's work without dominating their Lives. We must pledge to renovate American Government that will not only work well, but wisely; its ability to act tempered by prudence and its willingness to do good balanced by the knowledge that Government is never more dangerous than when Our desire to have it help us blinds us to its darker capacity to permanently harm our future. Once Liberties are ceded to Government, they prove difficult to restore.
President Abraham Lincoln once said, "While the People retain their virtue and their vigilance, no Administration by any extreme of wickedness or folly can seriously injure the Government in the short space of four Years." Sorry Abe, you are wrong. The Obama, Trump and now the Biden Administrations managed it big time.
The People of little Vanuatu, a wonderful Island Nation in the South Pacific Ocean, have grown their Economy over 420 times under ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY in eight Years.
Help Me with the math here. Which Economic Growth Rate do you think Americans would rather have 2% or 3% at best or 42,357% growth?
True, Vanuatu is a very small Nation of 300,000 People and its Economy is concomitantly small which skews the statistical analysis a bit, but what if the American Economy under ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY grew at just 1% of Vanuatu's pace? That's 424% growth, or around 140 times greater than the highest average annual Economic growth rate in the US History!!!!!!!!
Most of My fellow Economists would be very pleased to see any National, let alone the US Economy growing at a just a 3% pace. I promise you that will be a piece of cake when the ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY is installed in the USA!!!!!!!
In addition, the traitors who have betrayed the Public Trust during the American Opprobrium will be set to work in building what I call the Social Service Infrastructure so the legitimately needy can have their basic needs met and can be given the opportunity to turn their Lives around for the better without government intervention or interference.
Now, when George Washington and John Adams convened the US Government for the first time on May 1, 1789, they faced the daunting task of creating the World's first true, functional and stable Democracy.
Self-Government requires enormous Faith and Trust in those who lead it. President Washington and Vice President Adams, fortunately, were up to the job.
As time passed, they learned there were two very distinct and unique aspects of Democratic Government that were quite different from Governments led by monarchs and/or despots.
First, diversity was a good thing. The very same People President Washington was raised to look down upon as an Aristocratic Plantation and Slave Owner necessarily had to be an integral part of the new America.
That was an enormous mental and attitudinal transformation that America's First President and Greatest Leader handled incredibly well. If he hadn't, we might not be here 234½ years later discussing the REVIVAL OF THE AMERICAN DREAM at all!!!!!!!
Second, the Economy drove the Politics of the Nation, not the other way around. That's why it is said everything in the United States comes down to the almighty dollar. It is simply fact.
That said, if We have the attitude of Service towards one another and Our Creator and not ourselves, We can create the World of Peace, Prosperity and Self-Actualization We all desire!!!!!!!
Americans must renew our commitment to Democracy so that modern Americans can relearn and edify the lessons learned by the first Americans. As US President John F Kennedy once noted, “When written in Chinese, the word 'crisis' is composed of two characters. One represents danger and the other represents opportunity." I believe that there is enormous opportunity in the current set of crises that eventually Americans and the World can build lasting Peace and Prosperity for all!!!!!!!
But first we must square our hopes for the future with our current reality. The Hague knows that the Obama Administration chose to allow 117 Women to be sexually assaulted with impunity; over 10,000 innocent Citizens to have their Lives systematically ruined; and Missoula City and County, Montana, Law Enforcement and murder, maim and wrongfully incarcerate Political adversaries at will.
If the U.S. State Department received word that a Foreign National Government did what Obama and Holder did and allowed what has occurred in Missoula County, there would be outrage, condemnation and calls for sanctions against the offending nation. So why the hypocrisy? Can there be any doubt the United States should receive the same retribution?
During the SVC 2020 International Children's Day General Conference, it would be disclosed that as The Hague's Files Investigating Libyan Strong Man Muammar Gaddafi were being sealed by the International Criminal Court, that two International Investigators had filed disturbing Reports why the attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi took place and killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, Information Officer, Sean Smith and two CIA Operatives Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, both former US Navy SEALs.
The Investigators Report that al Qaeda operatives were told that the US Government would let their guard down at the Consulate on the eleventh anniversary of the 9-11-01 al Qaeda attacks and could be attacked without concern of serious reprisal. Al Qaeda did so.
Further, American Journalists, knowing they could clear the Obama Administration with the American People with this cover story of another al Qaeda attack on 9/11, threatened Foreign Journalists who desired to Report what really happened.
The attack occurred 10 days before my International Complaint against the USA would be Announced and there was no coverage of this Announcement by the American News Media as a result. That is exactly what they intended, Obama-Biden was successfully reelected and never had to answer for their malfeasance concerning Missoula throughout his second term.
As of 9 AM EDT this morning, there have been 13,267 police killings in the United States since Trowbridge beat me and 387,640 cases of excessive force reported. Only about one in ten of the cases are reported because of the fear of reprisals; that would make the number around 4 million.
Inexplicably, the American People are telling us that is acceptable to them. If that is not so, why is it happening? And why has our message continued to be buried?
But we are finally on the offensive and it soon will not matter one way or the other. SVC International Security Chief Gary H. Norman has made his first arrest in Colorado Springs. Something he has waited for almost 14 years.
It seems a man approached him in a store talking trash on Labor Day. Gary first tried to ignore him, but he insisted upon getting into Gary's face. Eventually, the man, who had no ID, started taunting Gary saying that he would never work again in Colorado Springs and that he would have no choice but to leave the city because he was helpless, no one cared about about him and he would have to commit suicide, which would be nice and neat.
That did it. Gary ordered the man to turn around, go 10 feet forward, drop to his knees and place his hands on his head. He at first refused. Then Murray O'Kieff, a fellow International Investigator, forced the man to follow Gary's orders.
Then the man started crying and tried to apologize saying he didn't realize they were really law enforcement. What difference does that make? Both Gary and Murray are former U.S. Marshals and will always have Federal arresting rights as I do.
The real promising sign is when they called for back-up, the DEA, FBI and the Security from the U.S. Air Force Academy responded to ask if they needed further assistance, which is exactly what is supposed to happen. The man is considered a terrorist and the Patriot Acts require such offers of assistance.
What the man stated exposed many aspects of the American Opprobrium in Colorado. First, they never intended for me to get to Colorado Springs. They have made it clear from the beginning I was not welcome. Second, they planned to ruin me financially and reputationally once I did manage to escape Montana. Third, the traitors/terrorists have attempted to make life so hard in Colorado and make employment and assistance unattainable so I would give up hope and commit suicide. Their hatred towards me constitutes hate crimes under US Law and Crimes Against Humanity at the International level.
Further, more than half of the Colorado Springs population know who I am and have since November 2018 when I first attempted to finally settle in Colorado. I was not very familiar with Colorado Springs and had little interaction with residents. Just how 275,000 people know who I am when I never met them is an indication the International Investigators have been right about Colorado Springs being al Qaeda's base in the United States. The lockdown in Colorado Springs may need to be elongated or made permanent because of the danger Colorado Springs poses to the rest of the United States and the world.
The other thing that is rather interesting is now that the Congress has returned from its August recess, the Republicans are talking government shutdown just before the Congress would have been evicted from the U.S. Capitol and its office buildings, thus calling into question how effective the planned evictions would be to send the message the International Community means business?
But I am sick and tired of talking about this garbage.
SVC will continue to focus upon and enhance our accomplishments in the following areas:
1) Working for Peace, Human Rights & Justice;
2) World Political Democratization;
3) World Economic Democratization;
4) Expanding the SVC International Trailblazer Program;
5) Continue developing my Living Security program;
6) Saving the Environment through land and water conservation and reduction of greenhouse gases; and
7) Ending Market, Monetary Policy and Tax/tariff manipulation.
